The Resource Centre celebrated  World Read Aloud Day on 6th March, 2013 from 8:00am to 12:00pm, with 243 children taking part from . 6 primary schools, including Muguluka Primary School, St. Joseph Nursery & Primary School, Muguluka Infant and Primary School, Isa Junior School, and St. Flo. Nursery and Primary School. Each school was represented by teachers and others participants included three volunteers from Restless Development & one representative from the New Vision office, Jinja.  A wide range of activities took place - reading aloud and translation from English to Lusoga and vice-versa, spelling games, story telling, reading newspapers, and  comprehension tasks based on the reading , singing, poems.

World Read Aloud Day is an international event, organised by LitWorld. It is about taking action to show the world that the right to read and write belongs to all people. World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words, especially those words that are shared from one person to another, and creates a community of readers advocating for every child’s right to a safe education and access to books and technology.

By raising our voices together on this day we show the world’s children that we support their future: that they have the right to read, to write, and to share their words to change the world.
